Technicians Will Tell You

If you think that your piano needs to be rebuilt, it might be beneficial to ask a professional piano restoration technician for advice as to how to proceed with the rebuilding process. Many piano technicians -- perhaps a majority of them -- do not have the skill or knowledge required for a complete rebuilding, so it is important that you consult with one that specializes in piano repair, refinishing and remanufacturing. The task is a major event for your piano as it consists of a complete overhaul. This includes

  • replacing the hammers
  • replacing or repairing the soundboard
  • replacing the pinblock
  • replacing the strings
  • replacing the dampers
  • regilding the plate
  • refinishing the exterior cabinet
